New Editor for JSAP
8 June 2020
BSAVA is pleased to announce that Nicola di Girolamo DMV, MSc(EBHC), PhD, DiplECZM(Herp) has been appointed the new Editor of its peer-reviewed scientific publication, the Journal of Small Animal Practice (JSAP).
Nicola is an associate professor in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences at Oklahoma State University. Born in Rome, Italy, he gained his veterinary degree and a PhD in Veterinary sciences from the University of Bologna. He then completed a residency at the European College of Zoological Medicine (Herpetology) in Rome and an MSc in evidence-based healthcare at the University of Oxford, UK. Nicola worked in private practice as a veterinary specialist first in Rome and later in Hong Kong, before moving to the United States. His published research ranges from meta-epidemiological studies in both veterinary and human medicine to clinical topics in exotic animal medicine.
Nicola said: “I am very excited to take on the role of Editor of JSAP. As a clinician working towards evidence-based practice, I have always read JSAP with great interest since it publishes clinical research that has made an impact in daily practice. As editor I intend to continue to ensure that articles are reviewed comprehensively but in a timely manner. The natural next step for JSAP will be to encourage submissions of systematic reviews, a tool that is now employed by all major medical journals to transparently summarise previous studies.”
JSAP is the journal of the British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA) and also the official scientific journal of the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA). The journal covers veterinary medicine and surgery relating to dogs, cats and other companion animals. JSAP is published by Wiley on behalf of the BSAVA.
