Academic Tutor: Part-time, permanent role
Hours: 10 per week
Location: Remote, UK based
Salary: £12,000 per annum (pro rata of £45,000 full-time equivalent)

The role:
We’re looking for a motivated and experienced veterinary surgeon with a passion for small animal medicine and postgraduate education to join our Continuing Education (CE) team as an Academic Tutor. The role will support the delivery and ongoing development of our Postgraduate Certificate (PGC) programmes with a primary focus on the Small Animal Medicine postgraduate certificate, helping us deliver high-quality, evidence-led online education for veterinary surgeons.
You’ll join a small, supportive and collaborative team committed to delivering excellent postgraduate education. This is a remote UK-based role working 10 hours per week, with some flexibility around when the hours are worked, although occasional evening work may be required.
Skills and experience:
To be successful in this role, you’ll have:
- A degree in Veterinary Medicine
- Current RCVS registration and eligibility to work as a veterinary surgeon in the UK
- A postgraduate clinical qualification in Small Animal Medicine
- Experience in veterinary education
- Experience providing structured and constructive feedback that supports learner development
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Clinical experience, current knowledge and understanding of small animal first opinion practice in the UK.
It would also be helpful if you have:
- An RCVS, European or American Diploma or equivalent
- Residency training
- A postgraduate qualification in veterinary education or teaching
- Familiarity with online learning platforms and virtual facilitation
- An understanding of adult learning principles and other relevant pedagogical approaches
The person:
We’re looking for someone who is proactive, self-motivated and committed to delivering high-quality work. You’ll be comfortable working independently and managing your time effectively in a remote setting, while also enjoying being part of a small, collaborative team. You’ll be a clear and confident communicator who can build positive working relationships remotely, and someone who is honest, dependable and supportive of colleagues. An organised, solutions-focused approach, together with adaptability and a willingness to learn new systems and ways of working, would also be an advantage.
This is a part-time remote, UK-based role working 10 hours per week within the Continuing Education team, reporting to the Lead Academic Tutor.
