Molly’s story
Molly was more than a dog – she was our best friend and brought so much joy to our lives over the last 7 years.
We adopted Molly from a charity that rescues dogs from Romania. She had spent her early life on the streets and was saved from a kill shelter — a heartbreaking start for any animal. But from the moment she arrived, she settled into our lives with ease and brought so much love and joy with her. She meant everything to us.
On the 2nd of May 2025, our world shattered. Without any warning signs, Molly was suddenly and cruelly taken from us by cancer. We rushed her to the vet, but within hours, she was gone. It all happened so fast — too fast for us to understand or prepare.
Molly had so much more life left to live. We had more adventures planned, so many memories still to make — all of them now painfully out of reach. Her loss has left a huge hole in our hearts.
In our grief, we’re determined to honour her in the most meaningful way we can. For Molly, and for all the dogs like her, we want to turn this heartbreak into something that brings hope.
To honour her memory and help other dogs like her, we’re taking on a challenge over the next year: running, swimming, and walking a total of 1,300 miles — the distance from our home to Romania, the place where Molly’s story began.
Every step, stroke, and stride is dedicated to raising awareness and vital funds for PetSavers, the research arm of the British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA). They fund life-saving studies into diseases like the one that took Molly from us, working towards a future where more dogs get the treatment they need and more time in their safe, loving homes.
