BSAVA adds new imaging series to Client Information Leaflets

BSAVA has added four new diagnostic imaging leaflets to its popular client information leaflet library. They cover imaging techniques: radiography, ultrasonography, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging and are part of a new series of leaflets focused on veterinary procedures.

GB Ferret (and other Mustelinae) Register

Following the launch of the GB Ferret (and other Mustelinae) Register in June this year, there are now over 500 animals registered, including ferrets, polecats and stoats from across GB. This data is vital in helping Government to build a picture of the size and location of the kept Mustelinae population in GB, and ultimately in helping to contain any possible outbreaks of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

Vet associations call for risk-based approach to parasiticide use for cats and dogs

Leading veterinary associations have set out recommendations on the use of small animal parasiticides, as new research shows almost all (98%) companion animal vets are concerned about the impact of some treatments on the environment, with more than two in five (42%) feeling very concerned.

Keratomalacia treatment study highlights general lack of reliable evidence base to support clinical treatment decisions

A study published in the latest issue of the Journal of Small Animal Practice (JSAP) revealed that the evidence base for recommending any one treatment for keratomalacia in dogs and/or cats over another is very weak. The study is an example of the current lack of evidence base to support clinical decision making in practice.

BSAVA updates Dermatology Manual

The fourth edition of the BSAVA Manual of Canine and Feline Dermatology is now available. Under the direction of Hilary Jackson and Rosanna Marsella, the Manual has been revised and updated to provide an easy-to-read resource focused on the clinically relevant aspects of dermatological diseases. It also includes several new chapters, as well as expanded sections.
