This award is presented to the first named author of the most valuable peer-reviewed research paper published following a BSAVA PetSavers grant, in the previous 12 months. The BSAVA PetSavers Management Committee votes on this and determines the most valuable research with respect to veterinary practice.

2026 Winner

Sze Lynn Yuen MA VetMB MRCVS

Presented for the most valuable peer-reviewed research paper published following a BSAVA PetSavers grant, this year’s award goes to Sze Lynn Yuen for her paper, ‘Pterygoid bone malformation and its limitations on the effectiveness of brachycephalic airway corrective surgery in brachycephalic dogs’ published in the Journal of Small Animal Practice (JSAP). The paper was thought to have a clear clinical impact by providing a diagnostic approach to support surgical decision-making for a condition commonly encountered in practice. Sze currently works as a first opinion small animal veterinarian in South East Oxfordshire.

Full Biography

Sze Lynn graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2024 with a degree in Veterinary Medicine, where she developed a keen interest in brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome (BOAS). She currently works as a first opinion small animal veterinarian in South East Oxfordshire.
