Success for BSAVA Virtual Congress 2021

8 April 2021

BSAVA Virtual Congress took place on 25 – 27 March 2021, receiving more than 3,300 registrations from across the world. Delegates were immersed with over 80 live sessions and 130 hours of CPD from over 150 speakers.

The event generated huge engagement from everyone involved, far surpassing expectations, particularly in relation to the virtual exhibition which was a resounding success. Social media played a key role in spreading the word with the hashtag #BSAVA21, which had an impressive 2,198,059 impressions throughout Congress.

Whilst the programme was condensed from a usual Congress programme, feedback from delegates suggest they received greater value as they were able to engage with more of the content and speakers.

Sarah Fitzpatrick, Head of Events and Partnerships at the BSAVA said “It was a phenomenal turnout given the challenges the profession is currently facing as a result of the pandemic, which has had a significant knock-on effect on various aspects of the industry including budgets and working hours. No one really knew what to expect from a virtual Congress, but the verdict appears to be that it worked extremely well and exceeded expectations.”

“Innovation around the format for delivery was a great success and has generated some very positive feedback. The fact that the event was virtual made it more globally accessible and we’ve got a healthy take-up of registrations still coming from international delegates as well as those from the UK.”
