BSAVA Scottish Congress thrives in Glasgow

8 September 2016

The first weekend of September saw BSAVA celebrate a jam-packed 31st Annual Scottish Congress. After 6 years in Edinburgh the Congress moved westwards across the Scottish Central belt to the vibrant and dynamic city of Glasgow.

Numbers were significantly up on last year and there was a real buzz in the air with over 280 delegates visiting the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre on the bank of the River Clyde to enjoy 2 days of first class CPD.

Alongside three excellent small animal lecture streams, BEVA also joined us running an Equine Stream throughout Saturday which offered delegates even more CPD variety. The busy exhibition in the SECC also saw product demonstrations, service updates and great conversations with local reps and suppliers.

Most delegates came from the UK, though we were delighted to also welcome delegates from Peru, New Jersey, Hong Kong and South Africa.

The PetSavers Gala Dinner proved to be an incredibly popular night with the venue having to upgrade the room to accommodate 150 guests.  Everyone was treated to a heart-warming and entertaining welcome from Bailie Norman MacLeod, the Lord Provost of Glasgow’s representative, who greeted us all to our first-ever Gala Dinner in the city.  After a delightful meal guests danced the night away with hours of entertainment from the 5-piece Ceilidh band and DJ – and over £700 was raised for PetSavers.

We hope everyone who came had a fantastic time, and we hope to see you all again at BSAVA’s ‘friendly Celtic Congress’ next year.
