Bark in the Park marks Cymru/Wales 60th Anniversary Celebrations
12 May 2017
On Sunday 7th May Cymru/Wales Region hosted ‘Bark in the Park’ in the beautiful Bute Park in the centre of Cardiff.
Over 70 people had registered for the event and a few more dog walkers came along on the day. Dogs of all shapes and sizes enjoyed a 5 mile walk through the park and along the adjoining Taff Trail.
Walkers were joined by Susan Dawson, Senior Vice President of BSAVA, and Neil Paton, current BVA Welsh Branch President, as well as representatives from companies who have sponsored regional CPD.
PetSavers had a strong presence at the event with all canine companions (who wanted to!) wearing the new ‘Paws for Life’ orange bandana. The charity also received donations from both walkers and passers-by.
The weather was glorious in Cardiff and after the walk the dog lovers enjoyed refreshments whilst soaking up the sun on Orchard Lawn, where shade and water were provided for the dogs.
Special mention goes to Martyn Williams MBE, the former Wales and British and Irish Lions international rugby union player, who was out with his family in the park and came over to lend his support.
The region would like to thank everyone who came particularly those who helped to set up the event.
All 12 BSAVA regions are hosting 60th anniversary celebrations this year. Find out what’s happening in your area.
