This independent Hospital is rapidly expanding and developing so we are seeking a Part Time/Full Time qualified Veterinary Nurse permanent & maternity posi- tions to join our dedicated and hardworking teams within a well-established Equine
& Small Animal Veterinary Hospital. Our independence allows us to be adaptable and flexible and respect ethics.

  • Based in East Anglia, just outside the pretty village of Blackmore, Essex.
  • A car is essential due to no public transport.

Nurse Duties include:

  • Nursing of inpatients and day patients & supervision of their care Nursing and care of recovering post – operative patients
  • Kennel rounds with Veterinary Surgeon.
  • Completion of kennel sheets, inpatient records and admission forms
  • Drug administration and dispensing under direction of the Veterinary Surgeon Admission & Discharge of patients
  • General hygiene of kennel area
  • Preparation of theatre, equipment and patient Pre, peri & immediate postoperative care Assistance with induction of anaesthesia Maintenance of anaesthesia
  • Assistance during surgical procedures
  • General maintenance of hygiene and equipment in theatre suite Responsibility for personal health and safety
  • Performance of radiography procedures Responsibility for personal health and safety Obtain skin, urine & blood samples
  • Basic laboratory preparation and analysis of samples including Urine, cytology, Biochemistry, haematology and Bacteriology
  • Urinalysis & skin sample examination
  • Routine nurse clinic appointments: blood sampling, wound checks and suture re- moval, dressing changes.
  • Participation in our Puppy programme evening clinic
  • Carrying out nurse clinic appointments: post-op checks, dressing changes, blood sampling, adolescent checks, diabetes clinics, renal clinics, dental clinics and weight watchers clinics, puppy programme appointments.
  • Reception duties for general public enquiries and promotion of services available

Additional Duties Include:

  • Supervising and assisting with tutoring of student veterinary nurses and assess- ment where appropriate.
  • Stock control, ordering & rotation of stock
  • Work independently and as a team member to further practice objectives Attendance at nurse meetings & practice meetings
  • Attendance at courses for continuing professional development and commitment to updating clinical knowledge
  • Assisting equine nurses and vets when required.
  • Although your work may be predominately at one branch you will be expected to work at all branches whether small animal, equine or reception departments, in order to meet the requirements of the business.

Desirable: Hydrotherapy qualification or experience
