This independent Hospital is rapidly expanding and developing so we are seeking a Part Time/Full Time Veterinary Nursing Assistant (permanent) to join our dedicated and hardworking teams within a well-established Equine & Small Animal Veterinary Hospital. Our independence allows us to be adaptable and flexible and respect ethics.

  • Based in East Anglia, just outside the pretty village of Blackmore, Essex. A car is essential due to location as no public transport.

Nursing Assistant job role:

  • Washing and sterilisation of surgical kits, washing and drying of animal bedding, clean- ing and disinfection of kennels, end of day cleaning of clinical areas, and other tasks as requested by the Veterinary Surgeon and / or Nurse
  • Assist the Veterinary Nurse with the care of Day and Inpatients
  • Assist with basic yard duties if required, i.e. mucking out, general sweeping/tidying Handle/ restrain animals for examinations /clinical procedures
  • Admit and discharge patients for procedures following guidance from the Veterinary Nurses, ensuring that the client is dealt with in a sympathetic and appropriate manner
  • Assist the Veterinary Surgeon with the euthanasia of patients when required, ensuring that the client and patient are treated in a sympathetic and appropriate manner
  • Assist during weekends and out of hours with basic laboratory procedures
  • Liaise with clients as required face to face and by telephone, in a polite and courteous manner
  • Accurately record, retrieve and communicate relevant information to help the Veterinary Surgeons and Nurses, and to provide the best service for our clients
  • Ensure that all clinical areas are clean, tidy and well presented
  • Assist in reception during weekends and out of hours Professionally represent the practice at all times Update patient/ client records accurately
  • Participate in training sessions and workshops, and regular nurse meetings
