RCVS Mind Matters Initiative - Vet Wellbeing in Practice

Ultrasound courses

Abdominal Ultrasound Full day course


Our One Day abdominal ultrasound course is aimed at veterinary surgeons who are new to, or are inexperienced with ultrasound. The day will include lectures, demonstrations and practical hands on sessions using a range of scanners, The aim is to develop your abdominal imaging skills to an intermediate level.
Topics covered on the course will include:
•    Basics of Ultrasound
•    Scanner set up and terminology
•    Abdominal Ultrasound, introductory level to intermediate level
•    Black & white imaging
•    Colour Doppler


Course Objectives


To develop an understanding of ultrasound, the knowledge of when to use it and how to optimise your scanner to get the best results. You should have the confidence to perform a scan and make a diagnosis based on your  interpretation of the image

Course Dates: 13th March 2019 & 17th September 2019 (please note dates may be subject to change throughout the year)

Cost: £300 plus VAT, £50 discount if you bring a friendly dog who is happy to be scanned. If an ultrasound scanner is purchased from MIUS within 3 months of attending the course, the costs of the course will be reimbursed to you.

Cardiac Ultrasound Full day course


Our One Day abdominal ultrasound course is aimed at veterinary surgeons who are new to, or are inexperienced with ultrasound. The day will include lectures, demonstrations and practical hands on sessions using a range of scanners, The aim is to develop your cardiac imaging skills to an intermediate level.


Topics covered on the course will include:
•    Review of system controls
•    Cardiac Ultrasound, introductory level to intermediate level
•    B & M mode imaging
•    Colour Doppler
•    Cardiac Analysis & measurements


Course Objectives


You will end the day with much improved cardiac imaging skills with the ability to use Colour Doppler where relevant and useful. You’ll have more confidence to make a diagnosis and to reliably get good images of the heart in long and short axis allowing you to take measurement sets for M Mode and basic Doppler studies

World Veterinary Association Congress 2020

In April 2020, Auckland is home to the 36th World Veterinary Association Congress.  The event is being hosted in conjunction with the highly successful New Zealand Annual Conference and will have 13 streams including three companion animal streams.
