Offering you the CPD you want, when you want it
The structure of our CPD programme is changing in 2018. For the first time, a rolling schedule of three proficiency ‘steps’ will be introduced to allow veterinary professionals to choose the most appropriate level and interest area of CPD training.
The programme will be split into levels, modules and topics which will repeat on an annual or biannual basis. The title of the courses within these topics will change to ensure different aspects of veterinary medicine are covered.
Alongside the clinical training, there are opportunities to develop a wider range of skills, including management and leadership, team building and dispensing.
The three steps are:
'First steps in…’ Half day courses focusing on new or recent graduates, or those new to small animal practice. Mix and match topics to create a strong platform for your work in practice. An online discussion forum will be available for all attendees offering a support network.
'Developing confidence in…’ Full day courses intended for vet surgeons with existing baseline knowledge and experience in the subject area, who wish to gain further confidence, refresh and develop their skills or return to practice after a career break. An online resource for each of the courses will provide follow-up support.
'Enhancing proficiency in…’ Full day courses for vet surgeons working towards or at the level of advanced practitioner, perhaps wishing to consider recent advances and refine application of these skills in practice.
BSAVA Academic Director Frances Barr explains the new CPD structure. "BSAVA is here to help right from the start, from students through to taking the first steps into practice and trying something for the first time, to progressing to an advanced level and honing your expert skills, to building skills as a team or gaining valuable insight on the latest advances in an area, or even returning to practice after a career break".
This new rolling programme will allow the whole veterinary team to plan their CPD over several years with the aim of increasing their confidence and skills.
