I am a Veterinary Technician Specialist in both Behaviour and Oncology, and an ASAB accredited Certified Clinical Animal Behaviourist (for cats and dogs). I am a passionate Veterinary Nurse, and welfare-focused animal trainer and behaviourist. I have been vet nursing since 2000, and have spent many years working in university referral clinics - specialising in internal medicine, oncology and welfare-centered nursing, and also in general practice. Over my years of working with cancer, internal medicine and feline patients - many of whom often had to be seen repeatedly, and were anxious - I became interested in learning more about welfare and behaviour within the clinic, and how this could fit in alongside excellent veterinary care. Having gained further advanced qualifications, I understand that veterinary medicine and behavioural/welfare care are inextricably linked, and feel strongly that we should be caring for whole-patient-needs at all times, as well as supporting caregivers in this. I currently run Inspiring Pet Teaching, based I the New Forest, dividing my time between seeing clinical behaviour cases, working alongside pets’ vets, and providing continuing education for veterinary and training/behaviour professionals.
