Learn Online: Medical oncology in practice

The aims of this course are to provide a very practical overview of how to be a great oncologist in general practice. Top tips of how to make a diagnosis and maximise the help from diagnostic labs. The course will cover basic principles of chemotherapy – which cancers can we treat and how to do this safely in practice. One module will focus of diagnosis and treatment of lymphoma, with information on common side-effects and how to manage them. The final module on mast cell tumours will cover basic diagnostic tips, when and how to use drug therapies. Case-based practical tasks will be used to illustrate taught material and generate plenty of discussion for the forum. 


Online activities (including quizzes and case studies) will support your learning and discussions on the online forum will be encouraged. We also provide additional resources to complement the course - the ‘BSAVA Bonus Bits’. These will include congress podcast recordings, JSAP and companion articles as well as a free chapter from the relevant BSAVA Manual (as well as a discount voucher for purchasing the whole book).

The first weekly unit will be released on the First Friday of the month, with the next weekly units being released on the following two Fridays. The discussion forum is open for the first three weeks of the course and the course content will remain available for a total of 8 weeks. You can complete the work how and when you choose over these 8 weeks.

Terms and Conditions: All courses must be paid for in full at the time of booking.

To qualify for an applicable refund, cancellations must emailed to administration@bsava.com or requested by telephone on 01452 726700. With over 30 days’ notice we will refund 70% of the course fee.  With between 15-30 days’ notice we will refund 50% of the course fee.  No refunds will be provided for cancellations with notice of 14 days or less, however if we are able to resell your place on the course we will provide a full refund.

BSAVA reserves the right to alter the programme or the speaker should this become necessary due to unavoidable circumstances.  BSAVA reserves the right to cancel a course due to unforeseen circumstances.  Registrants should note that the BSAVA member's rate applies only when the person attending the course is a member of the Association.  To qualify for the reduced member's rate for courses, non-members must join BSAVA prior to the course.
