Vet Nurse Merit Award in Wound Management

The BSAVA Vet Nurse Merit Award in Wound Management is a structured CPD course which counts for 30 hours CPD.

The programme consists of 10 online sessions including a webinar and online activity (webinars will all be recorded and available on the online resource), The online resource which will encourage support in your learning through online activities including a discussion forum.

A practical attendance course will take place at Woodrow House, Gloucester and will give you chance to meet the colleagues who have been studying at the same time as you and to get your hands on experience in various practical sessions. Attendance at this day is essential to completing the award.

The course will be finished with an online assessment which if you complete to a passing grade will be rewarded with a certificate and badge.

Online session are titled as follows.

Session 1: Anatomy of the skin and underlying structures
Session 2: Physiology of wound healing and aims of wound management
Session 3: Factors that delay healing - what to look for
Session 4: Wound cleansing and infection control
Session 5: Wound debridement: Surgical, mechanical, chemical and autolytic
Session 6: Wounds: To close or not to close
Session 7: Scar tissue management and fragile skin
Session 8: Bandaging techniques and how to avoid complications
Session 9: To refer or not to refer
Session 10: What could your team do better

Terms and Conditions: All courses must be paid for in full at the time of booking.

To qualify for an applicable refund, cancellations must emailed to administration@bsava.com or requested by telephone on 01452 726700. With over 30 days’ notice we will refund 70% of the course fee.  With between 15-30 days’ notice we will refund 50% of the course fee.  No refunds will be provided for cancellations with notice of 14 days or less, however if we are able to resell your place on the course we will provide a full refund.

BSAVA reserves the right to alter the programme or the speaker should this become necessary due to unavoidable circumstances.  BSAVA reserves the right to cancel a course due to unforeseen circumstances.  Registrants should note that the BSAVA member's rate applies only when the person attending the course is a member of the Association.  To qualify for the reduced member's rate for courses, non-members must join BSAVA prior to the course.
