An afternoon course using the innovative “phantom gastrointestinal tracts” to learn the basics of driving an endoscope, getting into the stomach, how to take endoscopic biopsies and how to incorporate your findings into a concise and detailed report.
The course will consist of a lecture session about the equipment and how to drive the scope, then a practical using the phantoms concentrating on driving the scope. There will then be a lecture on common endoscopic changes and how to write a report, followed by another practical session focusing on the lesions present, biopsy techniques and how to interpret your pathology report.
There will be maximum 4 delegates per scope, so there will be plenty of time for hands on driving of the scope, the delegate will be able to learn how to move the scope into the stomach and visualize all the areas of the stomach. Delegates will learn how interpret and report their findings.
The phantoms enable practical endoscopy to be carried out for the first time in a teaching setting.
