Help, I don't like ophthalmology! Guiding you through problematic cases
Crowne Plaza Belfast, 117 Miltown Road, Shaw's Bridge Belfast Antrim, BT8 7XP
The aim of the day is to try and help you differentiate, diagnose and treat many of the more common clinical presentations that you will find in first opinion practice. We are aiming at giving you a level of confidence in your initial diagnosis that allows you to initiate further treatment before deciding on what further investigation may be required. This clinical decision making should help you prevent further clinical deterioration, assess pain associated with ocular disease and prevent chronic pathology within your patients.
We will be looking through
• Corneal and eyelid surgery,
• Cataract assessment and potential treatment,
• Traumatic injury and how to deal with them and also
• Ocular manifestation of some systemic diseases.
The course is directed at general practitioners but we will aim to go above basic level to help increase your understanding of why a referral clinician has made their decision. The day will be designed to have delegate participation and interaction during the lectures, but is not a practical course day.
