This award is for the first named author of the best published paper in the JSAP in all aspects of small animal medicine, including but not limited to, internal medicine, cardiology, dermatology, oncology and medical aspects of neurology, ophthalmology, diagnostic imaging and exotics (NTCA) in its widest context during the 12 months ending 30th September. There are no nominations for this award, and it is decided by the JSAP Editor after consultation with the Editorial Board.

Karen Yuet Ming Fong BVM&S MRCVS

The Dunkin Award is presented to Karen Fong for her research paper; ‘Hypoalbuminaemia and its association with disease and clinical outcomes in cats’, published in the Journal of Small Animal Practice (JSAP). Karen is currently in her first year of residency and has a particular interest in feline hepatobiliary diseases and endocrinopathies.

Full Biography

Karen Fong graduated from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, University of Edinburgh, in 2021. After some time spent in general practice following graduation, she discovered her interest in internal medicine. This spurred her return to Edinburgh, where she completed a rotating internship and subsequently an internship in internal medicine. Karen is currently in her first year of residency and has a particular interest in feline hepatobiliary diseases and endocrinopathies. When she is not on clinics, she enjoys painting and spending time with her cat Felix.
