Vet needed for scientific policy role at BSAVA

We currently have an opportunity for a qualified vet to join the BSAVA within the Scientific Policy team, on a temporary freelance basis. Please see below for details of the job description.

The role

To provide freelance support for the British Small Animal Veterinary Association, this newly created requirement is an opportunity to provide additional scientific policy support at the Association. The support will involve preparing documents and reports, assisting in the preparation of responses to queries and consultations from other organisations and developing subject matter for the Association’s members.

It is expected that the requirement will be for approximately 20 hours per week at negotiable rate depending on experience. Most of the work can be carried out remotely and the hours worked can be flexible however, there will be a requirement to attend the Association’s head office based in Gloucestershire from time to time (probably 2-3 times per month). The support is initially required for a 3 – 4 month period and should be available immediately.

 

S kills and Experience

We are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon with proven experience and a good understanding of small animal veterinary practice in the UK.

The ability to assimilate, analyse and interpret large quantities of potentially complex information quickly and accurately is vital. Good literature searching and an aptitude for critical appraisal are also essential.

There is also a requirement for outstanding written (including computer literacy) and oral communication skills.

A natural affinity, integrity and diplomacy for communicating with diverse stakeholders is expected. In addition a track record of excellent time management, the ability to work independently and on their own initiative is vital.

An understanding of the Association would be of benefit.
