Each day as a new veterinary professional you see a variety of intriguing conditions. As a vet in practice you may find yourself performing cat sprays and vaccinations in the morning, before finding yourself applying an external fixator to a dog’s broken leg and diagnosing secondary hyperparathyroidism in a tortoise after lunch. As a consequence the RCVS Guide to Professional Conduct is explicit about the expectation on vets to maintain their professional skills through continuing education.
As you will know, the minimum recommendation is for 105 hours of CPD over three years. It is important to make this a good habit in your professional life right from the start, and the BSAVA provides all the resources you need for lifelong learning.
As a graduate member you will continue to benefit from a range of high quality CPD courses and heavily subsidized regional courses. Both offer ideal ways for you to keep ahead in your veterinary career, network with like-minded professionals, test diagnosis, trade case notes and immerse yourself within a new practicing region.
For all forthcoming courses and events, be sure to search through the CPD pages of the site and keep an eye out for the latest news items and e-newsletters. The CPD calendars on www.bsava.com work easily, just scroll through the calendar to find out what forthcoming courses are on the horizon. Be sure to search under the regional course section also, where you can not only search by date, but also by region. You are therefore sure not to miss any high quality CPD on your doorstep.
