Education Committee organises BSAVA CE courses for veterinary surgeons and nurses. A multitude of topics (including minority interest courses) are provided to accommodate the varying needs of our members. The CPD meetings are held at locations across the UK in one-day, two-day or weekend formats. The courses are suitable for general practitioners seeking to update their knowledge in certain areas and for those studying towards post-graduate qualifications.
The Committee is mindful of the RCVS commitment to lifelong postgraduate learning, the new proposed RCVS Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice and that CPD will be mandatory for revalidation under the Veterinary Surgeons Act. Modular courses are already part of our Programme and these will be expanded in time. The need to provide more CPD for our members and the profession will drive our search for other forms of CPD delivery including distance learning.
BSAVA courses represent fantastic value for money for our members. Courses are typically 25–50% cheaper than other providers. We use internationally renowned speakers, often from overseas, and we typically have two speakers to provide diverse opinion and debate.
We also provide an extremely varied and cost-effective CE programme for veterinary nurses. BSAVA veterinary members and their Practices benefit both directly from better educated nurses and indirectly as nurses are more motivated and enjoy increased job satisfaction.
Details of all BSAVA courses are on the website bsava.com and in the CE booklet, which is sent to all members.
