The winner of the 2009 award was Danièlle Gunn-Moore who is an RCVS specialist in feline medicine. An Edinburgh graduate, Danièlle worked for a year in small animal practice before joining the University of Bristol, initially as the Feline Advisory Bureau Scholar and then as Duphar Feline Fellow. She completed a PhD on feline infectious peritonitis in 1997. After a short period as Lecturer in Veterinary Pathology at Bristol, Danièlle returned to Edinburgh to establish the Feline Clinic and she is now Professor of Feline Medicine.
Danièlle has built an international reputation for lecturing and is recognised as an expert in her area, with works that have been published widely. Danièlle has delivered numerous courses and talks for BSAVA, including two lectures at this and last year’s Congresses, specialising in the area of feline medicine.
