BEHAVIOUR: Inappropriate feline urination: is it behavioural? - Thursday 8 April, 14:05 - 15:35
■ Vicky Halls RVN
■ Sarah Caney BVSc PhD DSAM(Feline) RCVS Specialist in Feline Medicine MRCVS
Inappropriate urination is one of the most common and frustrating feline problems encountered in clinical practice. There are many causes of this, ranging from medical disorders (such as idiopathic cystitis and bladder stones) through to behavioural problems (for example, fear of a cat outside the home triggering inappropriate urination in the house). Distinguishing between medical and behavioural problems is vital in making a correct diagnosis and achieving successful treatment but is not always easy. This Nursing
Masterclass will discuss the practical tips on achieving a successful diagnosis and treatment plan in practice, including: how to take a good behavioural history; what medical causes need to be considered; how a diagnosis is confirmed; and how to advise owners on management of common behavioural and medical conditions. The Masterclass will be aimed at qualified veterinary nurses working in general or referral practice who have an interest in feline medicine and behaviour.
