2024 Winner – Kevin Eatwell

Kevin qualified in 1995 and became a specialist in the exotic field in 2001. He has since been awarded two further diplomas from the European college as well. He has worked in mixed practice, general practice, for laboratories, zoos and wildlife hospitals. He spent 16 years as a clinician in the exotic team at the RDSVS. Student resilience and well being became an increasing focus on how he taught students, given his own increasing concerns about the mental health status of the profession as a whole. Kevin has now set up an independent Exotic Clinic based at Fife Zoo to offer high end 24 hour care for all exotic animals. A future aim is to partner with a University to offer a safe and secure environment (with on site accommodation) for future generations of students to stay on site for rotations and learn about Zoo and exotic pet medicine.
