Part-Time Small Animal Vet

Contact Information: Lindsey @608vetpractice.co.uk

This role is to start as soon as possible due to a colleague not returning after maternity leave.  This position will be for 2.5-3 days but proposals considered!

We are an independent and friendly small animal practice with seven full time and two part time vets.  We also run an emergency service for local practices that employs three vets.  We are an RCVS accredited tier 2 ‘small animal general practice’ working towards hospital status.

Our well-equipped main surgery is in Solihull (West Midlands), with two nearby branches.  The branches have morning and evening surgeries and are fully equipped for most types of surgery.  Operations can be restricted at branches for less experienced vets.

We are a practice that spends time on our patients and clients, and they appreciate it; look at our Google reviews!  Each vet is encouraged to follow their cases through and be responsible for doing any operations or investigations that they admit or arrange, unless assistance is required.  We have a long-standing team so there is a wealth of experience to draw on.

We are hoping the applicant will be part of the weekend rota.  Although this is not an essential requirement, it would increase the salary available significantly.  Currently, there are seven vets on the rota, which means we work one full and one half weekend over a seven-week cycle.

A resident vet and nurse on the premises take responsibility for all hospitalised patients overnight, allowing us to offer a high standard of continuous care out of hours.

We have a large, fantastic team of qualified nurses and are a training practice with several clinical coaches and SNs.  An experienced and qualified technician heads our laboratory and has encouraged investment in the latest Idexx biochemistry and haematology equipment.  This means we are able to carry out many tests in-house to a high and reliable standard.

The Job:

  • 2.5-3 day week
  • Potential for Bank Holiday & Weekend work
  • 24/7 on-site team
  • Initial holiday entitlement: 28 days a year pro rata (including Bank Holidays).
  • Structured Salary
  • Temporary use of a practice car and flat if relocating
  • CPD is encouraged and funded for 5 days a year (pro-rata)
  • Support will be given to any assistant wishing to pursue a certificate qualification
  • Additional income bonus to any vet with a RCVS certificate qualification
