BSAVA is grateful for the time and commitment of its volunteers at any time. But as we enter Volunteers’ Week, which runs from 1-7 June, we would like to celebrate the difference our volunteers make to the Association and thank them for their time and dedication.
Volunteers at BSAVA help the Association achieve its purpose of “Driving excellence in veterinary practice to improve the health and welfare of small animals.” Volunteers support the work of the Association in so many ways, and we would like to highlight some of the recent activities that volunteers have helped deliver. At any given time, 350+ volunteers are working behind the scenes with the permanent staff members, and we are grateful for their input.
When Congress returned as a hybrid event in 2022 in its new home at Manchester Central, our Congress Team worked closely with those volunteers involved in the programme planning, which helped to bring this event with a refreshed programme to the profession.
Our regional volunteers have worked hard to continue to provide CPD throughout the pandemic and are now carrying out a review to find out what people want from their regional CPD. This review is being achieved partially via a survey, which allows you to help those volunteers within the regions plan for 2023 and beyond to deliver the CPD you want in the format that you like.
Should you wish to take part, you can complete the survey at www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/7B9SBBZ.
PetSavers have a dedicated group of volunteers on its committee, and they have been involved in a review process. Details of this work, and that of BSAVA PetSavers, are outlined in its first impact report. The report can be viewed here and will become an annual publication. As dedicated as the volunteers are, PetSavers still need more people to join to help with the work.
If you want to find out more about the various way you can get involved in this volunteer community, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to find out more. Current opportunities are available on PetSavers Management, Audit and Risk Committee, and Volunteer Development Committee to name a few, and our regional committees are always looking for volunteers to help locally with the provision of CPD and building relationships in the smaller communities of regions.
