As a membership organisation, the BSAVA is often asked to represent the views of its members to external organisations. In order to do this, the BSAVA undertakes a number of consultations with its members on subjects of importance to small animal practice.
The Scottish Government are currently consulting on a proposal to permit tail docking of working spaniels and hunt point retrievers. This follows new evidence from recent research (Lederer et al., 2014; Cameron et al., 2014) which reported that the number needed to treat to prevent one amputation in working dogs was 232 (Cameron et al., 2014).
To help us represent your views on this matter, please take a few minutes to answer the short questionnaire on our consultations page here >
