Regions Now: Local blocks aren't just for large animal vets: loco-regional techniques that any small animal vet can use
Online , Online, Gloucester Gloucestershire, GL2 2AB
brought to you by South East region
In this instalment of the Regions Now lectures, Sean Langton will discuss loco-regional techniques that any small animal vet can use. General practitioners may feel out of their depth when considering the use of loco-regional blocks in companion animals. This course aims to demystify the topic and empower practitioners to try new techniques to improve their skill set in anaesthesia and analgesia. The course will focus on loco-regional anaesthetic techniques that can be achieved by any small animal vet using their knowledge of anatomy without any complex or expensive equipment. There will be a brief introduction about the rationale behind and pharmacology of loco-regional anaesthesia.
Following the recorded webinar there will be a live event with a series of case examples giving an insight into how these techniques can be built into every day practice.
• Describe the drugs used for loco-regional anaesthesia in companion animal species, their indications, and potential adverse effects• Explain the rationale for the use of loco-regional techniques in companion animal anaesthesia• Describe common local and regional anaesthetic techniques that can be performed in companion animal species with minimal resources• Discuss the advantaged and disadvantages of local and regional techniques used to achieve the same goal
