Is a canine diabetic one of those consults you dread when you look at the diary. Especially that case that just keeps coming back. Maybe you want some additional support In knowing how to approach these challenging cases. Or ar you nervous about keeping canine diabetics safe, managing possible complications an owner expectations?
Online activities (including quizzes and case studies) will support your learning and discussions on the online forum will be encouraged. We also provide additional resources to complement the course - the ‘BSAVA Bonus Bits’. These will include congress podcast recordings, JSAP and companion articles as well as a free chapter from the relevant BSAVA Manual (as well as a discount voucher for purchasing the whole book).

The first weekly unit will be released on the First Friday of the month, with the next weekly units being released on the following two Fridays. The discussion forum is open for the first three weeks of the course and the course content will remain available for a total of 8 weeks. You can complete the work how and when you choose over these 8 weeks.If so, this is the course for you. Join me and your colleagues talk about canine diabetes mellitus and hopefully we can progress in our understanding and management of this disease together.

Learning Objectives

1.    Recognise presenting clinical signs of canine diabetes mellitus and formulate initial stabilisation plans.
2.    Confidently identify diabetic ketoacidosis and initiate emergency treatment with available tools.
3.    Undertake a logical approach to challenging canine diabetic patients.
4.    Understand and apply the main goals in treating a diabetic patient.
5.    Recognise the importance of a team approach to care including both veterinary personnel and owners.

Terms and Conditions: All courses must be paid for in full at the time of booking.

To qualify for an applicable refund, cancellations must emailed to administration@bsava.com or requested by telephone on 01452 726700. With over 30 days’ notice we will refund 70% of the course fee.  With between 15-30 days’ notice we will refund 50% of the course fee.  No refunds will be provided for cancellations with notice of 14 days or less, however if we are able to resell your place on the course we will provide a full refund.

BSAVA reserves the right to alter the programme or the speaker should this become necessary due to unavoidable circumstances.  BSAVA reserves the right to cancel a course due to unforeseen circumstances.  Registrants should note that the BSAVA member's rate applies only when the person attending the course is a member of the Association.  To qualify for the reduced member's rate for courses, non-members must join BSAVA prior to the course.
