The approach to the Dermatology case
Topics covered in the theory lectures will include anatomy of the skin and ear; diagnostic techniques (skin scrapes, pluck, cytology and skin biopsy, cultures, endocrine tests); allergy, ectoparasites, hormonal skin disease and otitis externa.
Day 3 (the practical day) will take place at Woodrow House, Gloucester. In the morning delegates will have the opportunity to take and examine different diagnostic samples such as skin scrapes, plucks and tape strips as well as working with the tutors to identify prepared microscopic samples.
In the afternoon there will be a session on simple skin surgery and suture patterns including taking biopsies.
Delegates will have the opportunity to practice on synthetic materials.
The award will be completed with an online MCQ assessment and case studies

Terms and Conditions: All courses must be paid for in full at the time of booking. Cancellation of a booking must be received in writing. Cancellation will incur a charge of 20% of the registration fee if received more than 30 days before the course, 50% for cancellation between 15-30 days and 100% for cancellation within 14 days of the course. Delegates must telephone 01452 726700 to ensure their cancellation has been received.
BSAVA reserves the right to alter the programme or the speaker and/or to impose a surcharge should this become necessary due to unavoidable circumstances. BSAVA reserves the right to cancel a course due to unforeseen circumstances. Registrants should note that the BSAVA member's rate applies only when the person attending the course is a member of the Association. To qualify for the reduced member's rate for courses, non-members must join BSAVA prior to the course.
