Welcome to the BSAVA/VPIS Poisons Triage Tool - your first-stop guide to suspected poisonings in dogs and cats! Please log in using your BSAVA membership login details to gain access to the site. If you are not a member of BSAVA, please visit the Membership page at www.bsava.com to find out more about the benefits of joining the Association.

The BSAVA/VPIS Poisons Triage Tool presents thumbnail sketches of pertinent information relating to poisoning of small animal pets by commonly encountered substances, plants and other items. For each agent, information is given on toxicology, clinical effects, appropriate first aid and subsequent management and prognosis (see sample content). This is to enable veterinary surgeons and their staff to give appropriate guidance, over the telephone or in person, to clients that suspect their animals may have been poisoned. A 'Traffic Light' system indicates the level of concern and urgency.

This resource is the result of an exciting collaborative venture between British Small Animal Veterinary Association and the Veterinary Poisons Information Service. We hope that it will provide a valuable resource for our members and would welcome your comments and suggestions.
