Feline neurology made easy
DoubleTree by Hilton, Cambridge Belfry, Cambourne, Cambridge Cambridgeshire, CB23 6BW
Many veterinary practitioners consider neurology to be one of the most difficult specialities. This apprehension is heightened when faced with an uncoopperative feline patient. This hurdle has too often pushed the clinician into neglecting the neurological evaluation, in favour of making the best guess at which diagnostic tests may achieve a diagnosis. The emphasis of this course is on the logical and practical step-wise approach to a feline neurological case, ensuring focussed, appropriate and cost-effective management. We will cover common neurological presentation such as weakness, paralysis, loss of coordination and seizures. For each of these presentation we will learn via lots of case videos how to assess if and where a lesion is within the nervous system, how to draw up a differentials list based on history and neuroanatomic diagnosis and what diagnostic tests may be appropriate to explore that list.
- Be confident how to interpret neurological findings
- Developing a logical step-wise approach to common neurological presentation
- Recognising different types of epileptic seizures in cats and their mimics
- Being familiar with particularities of anti-epileptic drugs in cats
