BSAVA Regions – quality CPD close to home

BSAVA has 12 regions, all run by volunteers, who organise top-quality CPD on a regular basis. As a non-for-profit organisation we can keep costs low – and standards high.

Courses are aimed at the general practitioner looking to update their current knowledge and techniques, as well providing CPD for nurses.

It is also a great opportunity to meet and share experiences with local colleagues.

Go to the monthly calendar below to find out what’s on.

Changes to the BSAVA regional map

The Regional map will look a little different from January 2013. The total number of Regions remains the same, but their size and membership are more even; providing more proportional representation.

For most Regions the changes are minimal, with the following exceptions:

  • the unification of Wales
  • the merger of Surrey & Sussex with Kent
  • splitting the Midlands into two regions – East and West

Get involved
All regional committees are very happy to get feedback and would be delighted to have the support of more members. If you would like to find out what is happening in your region, which region you now belong to, or indeed how you can get involved, please email administration@bsava.com and one of our regional support team will be happy to help.

BSAVA Kent Region Presents

The Paralysed and Weak Cat

Wednesday 16 May 2012
evening meeting
(registration from 7.30pm, course starts 8pm and ends approx 10pm)

Many veterinary practitioners consider neurology to be one of the most difficult and daunting specialities. This apprehension is heightened when faced with an uncooperative feline patient. Gait disorders are common complaints in this species. Underlying causes include orthopaedic, spinal, neuromuscular and balance disorders. This presentation will provide you with the clinical tools to approach such patients. Common neurological causes of spinal cord disease and neuromuscular weakness will be discussed. The delegates will learn to develop a logical step wise diagnostic approach, all comprehensively illustrated with videos.

Speaker
Laurent Garosi

Laurent is a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Neurology (ECVN) and RCVS/European Specialist in Veterinary Neurology. He is currently a company director and head of the neurology/neurosurgery service at Davies Veterinary Specialists. In 2012, Laurent opened a dedicated feline neurology service which is the first of its kind in Europe. His main clinical and research interests are cerebrovascular diseases, neuro-imaging and feline neurology. He has published widely in the field of neurology and is a regular speaker on the national and international continuing education circuit.
