companion

companion is the BSAVA monthly membership magazine which will be sent to members at the start of each month and is the perfect complement to JSAP.

companion includes content that is relevant to life in practice, instructive CPD articles, reports on the activities of colleagues and members, and articles on the issues facing the profession, as well as general Association news. The publication itself has many contributors, providing thought-provoking articles designed to test, educate and challenge.

Key articles this month include:

  • Your new surveillance network
BSAVA Council has given the go-ahead to set up a partnership with the Liverpool Veterinary School in building a massive database on the diseases affecting companion animals in the UK. But what does the project involve and what are the potential benefits for the Association’s members, their clients and their pets?
  • The BSAVA regional map is changing
Regional volunteer Pedro Martín Bartolomé explains a review of the regional structure for BSAVA and how the map will look a little different from 2013
  • Clinical Conundrum
Consider the case of a diabetic terrier requiring extensive dental treatment
  • How To… euthanase a reptile
Kevin Eatwell, lecturer in exotic animal and wildlife medicine at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Science, discusses how to euthanase pet reptiles humanely and sympathetically…
  • Petsavers
A look at Petsavers fundraising and research projects.
  • Catty behaviour
“If only they could talk,” pondered a certain inspirational and curious North Yorkshire veterinary surgeon back in the early 1970s. But if he was thinking about cats, then it is probably better that they remain quiet or they might be telling us just how stupid we are, as Vicky Halls will be telling James Herriot’s modern-day colleagues at BSAVA Congress in April
  • The companion Interview
    Paul Milnthorpe and Jim Houlton
  • CPD Diary
    What’s on in your area.
